US Counterterrorism Chief Resigns Over Trump’s Iran War

Joe Kent, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, resigned on Tuesday, saying he could not support the Donald Trump administration’s military strikes on Iran. In a statement, Kent said Iran posed no imminent threat and claimed the war began under pressure from Israel and its US allies, an assertion Trump has denied.

Kent, a former Green Beret confirmed in July on a 52–44 Senate vote, led the agency responsible for analyzing terrorist threats. His resignation comes amid debate over the strikes and heightened concern about terrorism following several recent violent attacks in the United States. The significance of his resignation.

Senate Begins Debate on GOP Voting Bill Requiring Proof of Citizenship

The United States Senate voted 51–48 on Tuesday to begin debate on the SAVE America Act, a bill requiring documented proof of citizenship to register to vote and photo ID to cast ballots. Donald Trump has called the measure his top legislative priority. Republican Sen.

Lisa Murkowski opposed advancing the bill, while Sen. Thom Tillis missed the vote and Sen. Mitch McConnell voted to proceed despite reservations. Senate leaders plan an extended debate through next week as Republicans argue the bill protects election integrity and Democrats, led by Chuck Schumer, criticize it as voter suppression. What is the SAVE America Act and how will it affect you?

Goldman Sachs totes "The Return of Physical Assets" → Here’s What You Can Do.

Goldman strategists argued the post-2008 era of total financial asset dominance is faltering. Their proposition? Heavy Assets with Low Obsolescence.

Think about it. Blue-chip art is the original HALO asset.

Just in November 2025, someone bought a 1907 Klimt for $236mm.

And this month? Bloomberg reported that a billionaire scored 3,500% at auction: Bought for £364,500 in 1994. Sold for £13.5 million.

That’s just a fraction of the seller’s billion-dollar collection, representing 12.5% of his fortune.

Returns like that don’t happen everyday, but the Artprice100 outpaced the S&P 500 by 64% (‘20-’24).

Will You Face Job Loss Over AI?

Research from GovAI and the Brookings Institution suggests artificial intelligence could affect some occupations more than others. Jobs such as web design and clerical work show high exposure to AI, but workers’ ability to adapt varies based on factors including education, savings, age and transferable skills.

The study found about 6.1 million workers in clerical and administrative roles face both high exposure to AI and low adaptability, with women making up roughly 86 percent of those most vulnerable. Economists say there is currently no clear evidence that AI is broadly reducing employment, and predicting its long-term impact remains uncertain.

WEIGH IN

OpenAI is facing internal backlash over plans to roll out an “adult mode” in ChatGPT that would allow erotic conversations. Members of the company’s well-being advisory council reportedly warned the feature could encourage unhealthy emotional dependence and expose minors to sexual chats. Concerns come after previous cases where users formed intense bonds with AI companions, including a suicide linked to chatbot interactions. Critics also question whether OpenAI’s age-verification tools can reliably keep minors out, while the company says it is working to monitor the long-term effects of the feature.
