Signal Saga Continues to Unravel With No One to Take the Blame

The Atlantic released fresh screenshots of the national security officials of President Donald Trump’s administration coordinating a recent Houthi attack in Yemen on Signal app, clearing the air around what was shared and what was not. This comes a day after the news organization released initial screenshots from a group chat, called “Houthi PC small group”, in which its Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg was added by National security adviser Mike Waltz. Here is a list of officials present in the group.

While Trump and his officials have time and again refused to acknowledge that messages contained classified and sensitive information, there are explosive details in The Atlantic’s recent revelation. This has led to top Republican Senators demanding answers joining Democrats’ call for an investigation into the scandal. (Everything to know about the fallout.)

Trump has refused that the Federal Bureau of Investigation does not need to open an investigation into the case. However, the FBI has a long history of such inquiries. In the meanwhile, in Senate hearings, testimonies might be doubting the eligibility of the administration officials to handle sensitive national security communications.

Might be interesting to find out that a month before the scandal, NSA warned the government employees of the vulnerabilities of the Signal app.?

Does Elon Musk’s SpeceX take funding from China?

A ProPublica investigation reveals that SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, allows investments from Chinese entities through offshore jurisdictions like the Cayman Islands, which obscure investor identities.

This comes as court records from a recent Delaware corporate dispute indicated that while SpaceX, a U.S. defense contractor, typically avoids direct Chinese investment due to national security concerns, it deems indirect investments via offshore vehicles "acceptable".

In December, Iqbaljit Kahlon, a significant SpaceX investor, testified that Chinese investors used intermediaries in locations like the British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong to route funds into the company. This raised concerns about transparency and potential foreign influence over a firm critical to U.S. military operations.

One instance cited involved SpaceX canceling a $50 million stock purchase by a Chinese firm after media coverage drew attention, fearing regulatory scrutiny. Experts have warned that this investment structure deliberately obscures foreign ownership, complicating oversight of SpaceX’s financial ties.

This New Pill Will Treat UTIs

Being one of the most common medical issues faced by women, with about 60% getting it once in their lifetime, Urinary tract infections (UTIs) can now be treated with a medicine.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday approved the first new antibiotic in 30 years, which will treat UTIs. The medication — gepotidacin — would target E. coli bacteria that is responsible for uncomplicated UTIs which are the most common among women.

Branded as Blujepa, the medication has been approved for women that are 12 years and older. Developed by GSK, the drug is set to be launched in the second half of the year in the US.

The drug takes a unique approach compared to existing antibiotics. It targets two key enzymes that E. coli relies on to replicate by generating and cutting circular DNA strands. During this process, the DNA can become tangled, but E. coli has the ability to untangle these knots to continue multiplying. Blujepa disrupts this mechanism, preventing the bacteria from replicating and spreading infection.
