TrumpRX Is Live Offering Dozens Of Discounted Drugs
The White House launched the TrumpRx discount drug website on Thursday, presenting it as a cash-pay option for prescription medicines. The site links users to pharmaceutical companies’ purchasing platforms or coupons, with prescriptions required and purchases not counting toward insurance deductibles. All you need to know.
President Donald Trump unveiled the platform, calling it transformative, and said 40–43 branded drugs from companies including Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, EMD Serono and Novo Nordisk are available at negotiated discounts. Officials including Mehmet Oz, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Joe Gebbia participated. Democrats questioned the platform’s legality and potential conflicts of interest.

January Layoffs Highest For Year Start Since 2009
US employers announced 108,435 job cuts in January, the highest January total since 2009, data according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas stated. The figure marks a 118% increase from the previous year.
Amazon said it would cut 16,000 corporate roles, while UPS announced 30,000 layoffs, making transportation the hardest-hit sector. Citi said it plans to eliminate about 20,000 jobs. Challenger reported only 5,306 planned January hires, the weakest start since 2009. Andy Challenger said the cuts reflect plans set in late 2025 and cited contract losses, economic conditions, restructuring, and AI as key drivers.

Trump Administration Makes It Easy To Fire Federal Workers
The Trump administration issued a new rule creating a category called Schedule Policy/Career, allowing agencies to reclassify about 50,000 senior career employees into at-will positions with fewer job protections. The rule, affecting roughly 2% of the federal workforce, stems from an executive order President Donald Trump signed on his first day in office and rescinds a 2024 rule issued under former President Joe Biden.
The administration said supervisors struggle to remove poor performers. More than 30 unions and advocacy groups, represented by Democracy Forward, pledged a lawsuit. Union leaders Skye Perryman, Everett Kelley, and advocate John Hatton warned it enables politically influenced firings and affects civil service functions.

WEIGH IN

Is driving safer than flying? Well, the numbers tell a very different story. Air travel remains the safest mode of transportation in the US, with near-zero fatality rates over the past two decades. In 2023, planes saw just 33 serious injuries, while cars and trucks recorded more than 1.9 million. Motorcycles remain the most dangerous option by far, with significantly higher injury and death rates per mile.
