Trump Says ICE Isn’t Doing Enough

President Donald Trump returned to 60 Minutes one year after suing CBS — and the conversation was anything but dull. The 90-minute interview, only partly aired, saw Trump clash with anchor Norah O’Donnell on immigration, the economy, and US foreign policy. Here’s all that happened. Asked whether immigration raids had gone too far, he replied, “I think they haven’t gone far enough… you have to get the people out.” When pressed about rising living costs, he deflected blame to Joe Biden, while promising to “fix healthcare”, a pledge O’Donnell noted he’s made since 2015. Read the full transcript of the interview.

The president also weighed in on Venezuela, saying war was unlikely but warning that Nicolás Maduro’s “days are numbered”. On nuclear testing, he raised alarms by declaring, “We’re going to test nuclear weapons like other countries do.” Trump used the sit-down to praise CBS’s new leadership, saying, “Larry Ellison is great… They’re going to revitalize CBS.”

The interview comes months after CBS’s parent company, Paramount, settled Trump’s lawsuit for $16 million — a move critics like Stephen Colbert called “a big fat bribe.” Despite mixed reactions, O’Donnell’s sharp questions and Trump’s unfiltered answers made clear that the president remains both media-savvy and media-dependent.

Air Travel Becomes A Hassle Amid Shutdown

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warned that the government shutdown is bringing US air travel to a breaking point. Nearly half of major air traffic control centers are understaffed, with exhausted controllers working unpaid overtime or taking second jobs to make ends meet. Ground stops and flight delays snarled airports from Newark to Austin, and the FAA reported thousands of delays nationwide. “We’ll delay, we’ll cancel any flight needed to keep people safe,” Duffy said to ABC, adding that risk increases when one controller must do two jobs. Could a ‘misery map’ help?

The shutdown, now a month old, could soon be the longest in US history. Duffy and airline executives have urged Congress to pass a clean funding bill, warning that a prolonged lapse threatens both safety and the economy. United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby said the crisis is “putting stress on the entire economy”. Vice President JD Vance echoed those fears, cautioning that Thanksgiving travel could be “a disaster”.

Meanwhile, polls show most Americans blame President Donald Trump and Republicans for the shutdown but frustration with both parties is mounting as paychecks stop, flights stall, and the skies grow increasingly chaotic.

Trump Threatens Military Action Against Nigeria

President Donald Trump has threatened military action against Islamist militants in Nigeria, warning that the US could go in “guns-a-blazing” if the Nigerian government fails to stop what he called the “killing of Christians.” In a Truth Social post, Trump said he had ordered the Pentagon to prepare for “possible action” and would immediately cut all US aid to the country. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that the Department of War was “preparing for action.” Here’s everything we know.

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rejected Trump’s claim that Nigeria is religiously intolerant, saying the country “safeguards freedom of religion for all Nigerians”. Officials noted that the violence often stems from land and ethnic conflicts, and data shows more Muslims than Christians have been killed in recent years. He also asked for US help?

The threat follows growing right-wing claims in the US of a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria, amplified by politicians like Ted Cruz and media figures including Bill Maher. Nigerian officials, however, call the genocide narrative misleading and warn against foreign interference. While Tinubu’s government said it would “welcome assistance” in fighting militants, it stressed that any cooperation must respect Nigeria’s sovereignty. Trump’s post has sparked alarm in Nigeria, with many urging diplomacy over military action.
