Trump Addresses UNGA
President Donald Trump delivered a combative address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, criticizing the institution’s effectiveness while amplifying his own record. Technical malfunctions — a stalled escalator and a broken teleprompter — became part of his remarks, as he quipped that “all I got from the United Nations was a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter”. Why did Trump ask countries to “go to hell”.
Trump accused the U.N. of responding to crises with “empty words” and asked bluntly, “What is the purpose of the United Nations?” He faulted the body for failing to prevent conflicts and touted his role in brokering peace agreements. He also condemned international efforts to recognize Palestinian statehood, calling them a “reward” for Hamas, and instead urged a unified demand for hostages’ release. On climate, Trump dismissed global action as “the greatest con job ever,” celebrating U.S. fossil fuel expansion and withdrawal from the Paris Agreement. He also warned drug traffickers the U.S. military would “blow you out of existence.” Devices capable of crashing cell network found near UN meeting.
Despite the sharp tone, Trump later met with Secretary-General António Guterres and emphasized that the U.S. remained “100 percent behind the United Nations,” even as he pushed allies to adopt his vision on security, migration, and trade. Fact-checking Trump’s claims at UN address.

In A First, In NASA’s Newest Astronaut Class, Women Outnumber Men
NASA has introduced its newest class of astronaut candidates, 10 men and women selected from more than 8,000 applicants. They will begin two years of training before becoming eligible for assignments to the International Space Station, upcoming commercial space platforms, and future Artemis lunar missions. This class marks the first time women outnumber men, with six selected, including SpaceX engineer Anna Menon, who previously flew on the private Polaris Dawn mission and now holds the record for the highest altitude reached by any female astronaut.
Other candidates include military veterans, engineers, physicians, and even a former professional athlete. Dr. Imelda Muller, an anesthesiologist and Navy veteran, described her path through diving medicine to NASA’s Neutral Buoyancy Lab, saying, “All the things that I loved about diving really translated over to space.”
NASA leaders suggested one of these recruits could one day walk on Mars. For now, they will train in Russian, master T-38 jets, and prepare for missions under Artemis, which aims to return astronauts to the lunar surface later this decade. While the group is less racially diverse than recent classes, former astronaut Garrett Reisman noted that women’s representation marks a significant milestone.

Man Found Guilty of Attempting to Assassinate President Donald Trump
Ryan W. Routh, 59, was found guilty on Tuesday of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump at his West Palm Beach golf course last year, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. The jury also convicted him on assaulting a federal officer and multiple firearms violations.
Routh, a North Carolina native and Hawaii resident, represented himself at the trial, which lasted two weeks. Prosecutors said he hid in the bushes with a semiautomatic rifle, its serial number defaced, and monitored Trump’s movements for weeks. Although Routh never fired a shot, evidence included fingerprints on the rifle, notes detailing his plan, and surveillance and cellphone records tracking his preparations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Browne told jurors, “The defendant was just one bullet away.”
Immediately after the verdict, Routh tried to stab himself in the neck with a pen but was restrained by U.S. Marshals. His daughter screamed in court, vowing to fight for him. Authorities said he is now under suicide watch at the St. Lucie County Jail. Routh is scheduled to be sentenced on December 18. Attorney General Pam Bondi called the conviction “an affront to our very nation itself,” underscoring the Justice Department’s commitment to punishing political violence.

After a long day, slipping into pajamas feels like the ultimate comfort. But how often should they hit the laundry basket? Experts say it depends on your nightly routine — whether you shower before bed, sweat while sleeping, or snack under the covers. Some recommend every three to four wears, while others argue for more frequent washes to avoid buildup of sweat and oils. The choice might come down to comfort versus convenience.
