Supreme Court Preserves Mail Access to Abortion Pill

The Supreme Court issued a high-stakes order on Thursday, maintaining nationwide access to the abortion pill mifepristone via telehealth and mail. The decision pauses a 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that would have mandated in-person doctor visits, a requirement the FDA dropped years ago. While the majority did not explain its reasoning, Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented. Alito argued the stay "undermine[s] our decision" to overturn Roe v. Wade, while Thomas claimed manufacturers are not entitled to protection from "lost profits from their criminal enterprise".

Now what: The legal battle now heads back to the New Orleans-based appeals court to weigh Louisiana’s challenge. “This buys time, but no peace of mind,” warned Nancy Northup of the Center for Reproductive Rights. Meanwhile, the Trump administration remained notably silent, navigating a rift with anti-abortion groups who labeled the court's decision "shocking"

Trump and Xi Wrap Beijing Summit

President Donald Trump concluded a high-stakes two-day summit in China on Friday with a rare tour of the exclusive Zhongnanhai compound. What was on the menu. Escorted by President Xi Jinping through the 14th-century imperial gardens, Trump hailed the visit as "incredible," while Xi promised a "new bilateral relationship". The summit focused heavily on trade and the Iran war. Trump claimed to have secured "fantastic trade deals," including the purchase of 200 Boeing jets and American oil. "China is going to invest hundreds of billions of dollars," Trump told Fox News, though Beijing’s foreign ministry remained more reserved, emphasizing "mutual benefit" over specific figures. Tensions remained beneath the surface. Xi issued a stark warning regarding Taiwan, stating that mishandling the issue could lead to "clashes and even conflicts." On the Middle East, Trump noted Xi’s desire for an open Strait of Hormuz, quoting the Chinese leader: "If I can be of any help whatsoever, I would like to help." The leaders have already scheduled a follow-up summit in Washington this September.

The “Girlbossification” Of AI?

We’re just in time to witness a corporate-feminist push happening in tech — led by celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, Mel Robbins, and Sheryl Sandberg. Just this week, Demi Moore urged the film industry to work with AI technology (while stressing in the same breath that it can never replace “true art” created by humans). Meanwhile, Reese Witherspoon was seen blending smoothies on Instagram while telling her 30 million followers that it's time to log on.

Well, Well: The Cutsays“the girlbossification of AI” is “famous women trying to convince other women that adopting the technology isn’t just the best thing they can do for their careers — it’s the only way to survive”. Statistically speaking, women's jobs are more vulnerable to automation, and the new playbook says it’s time to “lean in” to the tech or get left behind — some say it’s exactly why women are resisting it.

WEIGH IN

The term “girl dad” has become a bigger cultural conversation, with some people embracing it as a sign of emotionally involved fatherhood and others rolling their eyes at the branding around it. Supporters say actively loving, encouraging, and showing up for daughters matters more than people admit, while critics think turning basic parenting into an identity can feel performative. The debate taps into modern masculinity, parenting expectations, and whether emotionally expressive dads are still treated as unusual.
