Netanyahu Addresses UN, Sparks Mass Walkout

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a combative address at the UN General Assembly on Friday, sharply criticizing recent recognition of Palestinian statehood by several Western nations. Calling the moves a “mark of shame,” he accused leaders of rewarding extremists responsible for the October 7, 2023, attack.

Netanyahu also rejected accusations of genocide in Gaza and claims Israel deliberately restricts aid. He vowed Israel would “finish the job” against Hamas, insisting that continuing the nearly two-year war was necessary to prevent further attacks. Holding up a map of Iranian proxies, he pressed for renewed sanctions on Tehran and praised U.S. President Donald Trump for standing firmly with Israel, including involvement in a June strike on Iran’s Fordo nuclear site.

The address was marked by mass walkouts from diplomats, underscoring Israel’s growing isolation. Watch. Outside, protesters gathered in New York, while inside, Netanyahu ordered his speech broadcast via loudspeakers and phones into Gaza, a move criticized by both Palestinians and Israeli hostage families.
