A Louvre-Inspired Heist?

Four masked men stole three paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, and Henri Matisse, valued at approximately €9 million, from the Magnani Rocca Foundation in Italy’s Parma. The group forced entry into the villa, accessed the first-floor French Room, and removed the works within three minutes before alarms sounded.

The stolen paintings include Les Poissons, Still Life with Cherries, and Odalisque on the Terrace. Police said the operation appeared organized and may have aimed to take additional art work. The suspects fled by climbing over a fence. Italy’s Carabinieri and cultural heritage protection unit are investigating the theft.

Manhattan Prosecutors Turn To Booming Prediction Markets

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan are investigating whether lucrative trades on prediction markets may have violated insider trading and related laws. Officials from the US attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York recently met with representatives of Polymarket to discuss how existing laws apply to the fast-growing industry.

The Justice Department is reviewing trades tied to major events, including bets on the timing of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro’s capture. No companies have been accused of wrongdoing. Prosecutors said fraud, anti-money laundering and market manipulation laws apply broadly. The scrutiny follows a surge in prediction market activity largely operating without comprehensive federal regulation.

Is ‘One-Side Monogamy’ Simply Cheating?

A relationship style called “one-sided monogamy” is sparking debate online, where one partner stays exclusive while the other dates freely. The term gained traction after it was talked about in Netflix documentary ‘Inside the Manosphere’, where they describe a setup where women remain monogamous while men do not.

While similar dynamics can exist in consensual open relationships, experts say those are typically negotiated without fixed gender roles. In this version, expectations are often unequal from the start. Though the idea has circulated online for years, its recent visibility has pushed one-sided monogamy into mainstream conversation.

President Donald Trump has extended his branding approach into government, with his name or image appearing on federal buildings, programs, coins, and now future US currency. The Treasury Department confirmed his signature will appear on dollar bills alongside the Treasury Secretary’s as part of the 250th anniversary rollout. Other examples include proposed coins, national park passes, and renamed institutions, some of which are facing legal challenges. Critics have questioned the precedent, while officials describe it as commemorative.
