Oil Prices Sky High Amid The Iran Conflict

The US war in Iran is rattling global markets after Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, a key channel that carries roughly 20% of the world’s oil. Tanker traffic has stalled, dozens of ships remain stranded, and at least five vessels have reportedly been damaged. According to Rapidan Energy, the disruption now affects about 20% of global oil supply — double the scale of the Suez Crisis. Crude prices briefly surged near $120 before swinging lower amid hopes the conflict may not last long, triggering volatile trading on S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average. Meanwhile, US gasoline prices are rising sharply, with analysts warning they could reach $4 or even $5 a gallon if the disruption continues.

Will Your Tickets Be Cheaper Now? Live Nation Settles Illegal Monopoly Case

The US Department of Justice announced a tentative settlement with Ticketmaster and parent company Live Nation Entertainment in its antitrust lawsuit, calling it a win for consumers.

The deal would cap service fees at certain venues, allow up to half of tickets to be sold through other marketplaces, and require the company to divest 13 amphitheaters while creating a $280 million settlement fund. But more than two dozen states say the agreement fails to break the company’s alleged monopoly and plan to continue the case in court. Critics argue the deal does little to address rising ticket prices or restore real competition in the live events industry.

88% resolved. 22% stayed loyal. What went wrong?

That's the AI paradox hiding in your CX stack. Tickets close. Customers leave. And most teams don't see it coming because they're measuring the wrong things.

Efficiency metrics look great on paper. Handle time down. Containment rate up. But customer loyalty? That's a different story — and it's one your current dashboards probably aren't telling you.

Gladly's 2026 Customer Expectations Report surveyed thousands of real consumers to find out exactly where AI-powered service breaks trust, and what separates the platforms that drive retention from the ones that quietly erode it.

If you're architecting the CX stack, this is the data you need to build it right. Not just fast. Not just cheap. Built to last.

Uber Launches Women-Only Option Nationwide

Uber has rolled out a new feature across the US allowing women riders and drivers to be matched with other women, expanding a safety-focused pilot from select cities. The option, introduced by Uber, lets female users request or prefer a woman driver through the app, though matches aren’t guaranteed if wait times are long.

The move comes as ride-hailing companies face ongoing scrutiny over passenger safety and thousands of past assault reports. However, the feature is already facing legal challenges: a class-action lawsuit in California argues it discriminates against men under the Unruh Civil Rights Act. Uber says the policy aims to improve safety and encourage more women to drive on its platform.

WEIGH IN

Wellness travel has exploded into a global industry, projected to reach $1 trillion this year, according to the Global Wellness Institute. But while luxury retreats and longevity clinics charge hundreds of dollars an hour, a quieter trend is emerging: travelers seeking simpler, cheaper wellness experiences rooted in local culture. Think geothermal pools in Akureyri, public saunas, forest bathing walks, or hot springs that cost under $20. The question now is whether wellness really needs luxury at all.
