Federal Agents Kill Another Person In Minneapolis
Federal agents shot and killed Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, during a Border Patrol operation in south Minneapolis around 9 am Saturday. Videos show agents pepper-spraying Pretti after he intervened when a woman protester was pushed down, then restraining him on the ground before multiple shots were fired.
The Department of Homeland Security said Pretti approached agents armed and resisted disarmament; bystander video appears to contradict that account. Who was Alex Pretti? Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said Pretti had no criminal history and was a lawful gun owner. What the witness statements say. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz called the shooting “sickening” and urged an end to the federal operation. How have Democrats responded?

Snowstorms Strike US
A severe winter storm swept across the United States, killing at least seven people and disrupting daily life nationwide. The National Weather Service warned of life-threatening conditions from Texas to New England. Officials reported hypothermia deaths in Louisiana, with additional weather-related fatalities in Texas, Tennessee, Kansas, and New York City. The list of 17 states affected.
More than 800,000 households lost power, according to power outages, and over 11,000 flights were canceled, FlightAware said. Heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain affected up to 180 million people. NWS meteorologist Allison Santorelli said the ice and snow would be slow to melt, hindering recovery. See in pictures.

Strength, Not Muscle, Connected To Healthy Aging
Experts emphasize functional strength over muscle size for healthy aging. Dr. Gabrielle Lyon and Dr. Peter Attia highlight muscles as key to longevity. Strength declines with age, starting around 30. Michael Ormsbee and Donald Dengel recommend training muscles for daily tasks, using tests like sit-to-stand or push-ups.
Progressively lifting heavier weights, about 75% of max effort, and incorporating speed and power exercises preserves fast-twitch fibers, aiding reaction and mobility. Single-leg movements, lunges, and step-ups improve functional strength. Dr. Dengel advises mimicking daily activities, like lifting groceries or milk jugs, to maintain practical strength for everyday life.

What happens when workplace systems quietly reward dysfunction? From unclear roles and toxic leadership to uneven accommodations that shift extra work onto others, these situations raise the same question: where does personal responsibility end and management failure begin? The advice suggests that guilt, resentment, and burnout often stem less from individual choices and more from workplaces that avoid accountability, clarity, and fairness.
