ICE Facility Targeted in Fatal Shooting

A sniper opened fire on the Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office early on Wednesday, killing one detainee and critically wounding two others, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed. No officers were harmed. The suspected shooter, identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, fired from a nearby rooftop before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. DHS described the attack as “an assault on ICE law enforcement”. What is the Dallas ICE field office?

The FBI is investigating the incident as targeted violence. Investigators recovered ammunition engraved with “ANTI-ICE” messages and DHS released images showing bullet holes in an American flag display. Vice President JD Vance suggested the shooter was a politically motivated “left-wing extremist,” while President Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz condemned the attack as ideologically driven violence. What witnesses said.

The shooting occurred amid a surge in threats and assaults against ICE officers, who have seen a more than 1,000% increase in attacks, according to DHS. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons announced heightened security at all ICE facilities. Local detainees described a sudden lockdown and panic as officers urged them to take cover. Federal officials emphasized the need to end attacks on law enforcement and protect both agents and immigrants

Scientists Find Promising Treatment For One Of World’s Cruelest Diseases

For the first time, Huntington’s disease, a devastating genetic condition that destroys brain cells, has been successfully slowed, offering hope to patients and families. A preliminary trial of a one-time gene therapy, AMT-130, showed a 75% reduction in disease progression over three years. Patients who would normally have declined over a year maintained function for four years, potentially preserving decades of “good quality life,” said Professor Sarah Tabrizi of University College London.

The therapy involves 12–18 hours of delicate brain surgery, using a harmless virus to deliver genetic instructions that reduce toxic huntingtin protein levels. This approach effectively turns neurons into their own protectors, preventing further damage. The trial included 29 patients, with high-dose recipients showing significant improvements in brain scans and spinal fluid markers. One patient returned to work after previously having to retire, while others maintained mobility despite expectations they would need wheelchairs.

Experts describe the results as “spectacular” and a potential game-changer. While the treatment is complex and expected to be expensive, it marks a critical milestone for a disease that often strikes in mid-adulthood. Researchers are already planning trials aimed at preventing Huntington’s in those who carry the gene but have not yet developed symptoms.

Sorority Girls Are Cashing In On RushTok

Sorority recruitment, or rush, has evolved into a social-media phenomenon with major earning potential. Across campuses, choreographed videos posted on TikTok and Instagram are not just tools to attract new members, they’ve become marketing gold for brands seeking Gen Z audiences. Chapters and individual students who go viral often receive free products, sponsored trips, and even financial compensation, with some deals totaling six figures.

Brands from fashion labels to prebiotic drinks are actively targeting Greek organizations, distributing products and paying members to promote them online. Some sorority chapters even appoint brand coordinators to manage partnerships, with earnings often reinvested into recruitment efforts. Viral content can come from group performances or standout individuals, turning everyday recruitment routines into career opportunities, exposure to major fashion events, and even debt-free college experiences.

With social media now central to sorority branding, recruitment videos serve dual purposes: attracting new members and opening doors to influencer opportunities. What once was just campus tradition has transformed into a platform where creativity, social reach, and marketing savvy can directly translate into professional and financial rewards.

WEIGH IN

For years, gut health has been tied to probiotics, supplements, and “clean eating”. But new research says coffee may be one of the simplest — and tastiest — ways to boost digestion, metabolism, mood, and even memory. Studies show coffee’s polyphenols fuel good bacteria in the gut while offering benefits from lowering disease risk to improving brain function. The question is: do we really need coffee to be healthy, or is this just a perk?
