US Plans To Send ICE To Italy For Olympics

US authorities confirmed that agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) investigative arm will support security operations during the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics starting Feb. 6.

The role, coordinated through the Department of Homeland Security, prompted backlash in Italy following recent fatal shootings involving US border agencies in Minneapolis. Milan Mayor Beppe Sala said the agents were “not welcome”. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said ICE would not operate on Italian streets and called the support role counterterrorism-focused. US officials said all Olympic security remains under Italian authority.

TikTok Denies ICE, Epstein Censorship; Says Power Outage As App Glitches

TikTok said recent glitches and content disruptions on its US app were caused by a power outage at a data center, not political censorship. The issues followed the launch of a US-led joint venture that gave American investors majority ownership. Users reported failed messages and videos receiving zero views, including messages containing the word “Epstein”.

CNBC confirmed that such messages triggered error warnings. TikTok said it does not ban the term and is investigating the issue. California Gov. Gavin Newsom said his office received reports of suppressed anti-Trump content and is asking the state Justice Department to review the matter.

Families Of Two Men Killed In Us Missile Strike Sue Government

Family members of two men killed in a US October 14 missile strike over Venezuela have filed a federal lawsuit against the American government, alleging wrongful death and extrajudicial killing. The suit, brought in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts, says Chad Joseph, 26, and Rishi Samaroo, 41, died when their boat was hit during a broader US campaign targeting suspected drug-trafficking vessels.

Plaintiffs’ lawyers including the ACLU and the Center for Constitutional Rights argue the strike lacked legal justification. The Trump administration has defended the campaign as targeting narcotics operations.

WEIGH IN

The US population grew by about 1.8 million last year, one of the slowest growth rates in American history, new Census Bureau data shows. Net immigration fell by more than 50% from the previous year amid tighter border policies under President Donald Trump, while the birthrate continued its long-term decline. Immigration still accounted for most population growth, even as deportations played a smaller role than border restrictions, visa hurdles, and fewer arrivals overall.
