FBI Thwarts Alleged ISIS-Inspired Halloween Terror Plot In Michigan

Federal agents arrested five people in Michigan on Friday, thwarting what officials described as a potential ISIS-inspired terror plot planned around Halloween weekend. The individuals, aged 16 to 20, were taken into custody from Dearborn and Inkster after investigators tracked their online communications discussing a possible “pumpkin day” attack.

Authorities said the suspects, naturalized US citizens with firearm access and training, had not chosen specific targets, but the FBI acted preemptively to prevent any possible violence. Officials are investigating whether the group was self-radicalized or connected to a former Michigan Army National Guard member arrested earlier this year for an ISIS-related plot.

FBI Director Kash Patel said the swift coordination with local law enforcement “prevented what could have been a tragic attack.” Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Attorney General Dana Nessel both commended the agency’s quick response, emphasizing there is no current threat to the public.
