Newly Released Epstein Emails Have A Major Trump Angle

House Democrats have released three previously unseen emails from Jeffrey Epstein suggesting that Donald Trump may have known more about the financier’s abuse than he has acknowledged. In one 2011 email to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein wrote that Trump “spent hours at my house” with a victim and “knew about the girls”. Another exchange with journalist Michael Wolff shows Epstein musing about how Trump might handle media questions about their relationship. Read all the emails here.

The White House swiftly condemned the release, calling it a politically motivated attempt to “smear” the president. Trump asks Republicans to not engage on Epstein issue. They revealed that the redacted victim mentioned was Virginia Giuffre, who had publicly stated she never saw Trump engage in wrongdoing and died by suicide earlier this year. Why was Mar-a-Lago mentioned in the mails?

The emails, part of more than 20,000 Epstein estate documents subpoenaed by Congress, have reignited debate over whether the Trump administration is withholding material related to Epstein’s network. Democrats are now pushing for a full public release of the Justice Department’s Epstein files, setting up a contentious House vote expected within weeks. These were nine most-shocing revelations from the emails.

Record Government Shutdown Ends, Normalcy Might Take A While

President Donald Trump on Wednesday night signed a bipartisan funding bill to reopen the federal government, officially ending the record-breaking 43-day shutdown that froze paychecks, grounded flights, and halted vital services. The House passed the measure 222–209 earlier in the evening, with six Democrats joining nearly all Republicans, while two GOP lawmakers voted no.

The legislation restores funding through January 30, ensures back pay for furloughed workers, and reinstates those laid off since October 1. Five takeaways from the longest-ever shutdown. It also keeps key programs like SNAP, the federal food aid program, running through September, critical for millions of families affected by Trump’s court fights over funding. However, the bill omits an extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies, sparking outrage among Democrats who fear higher premiums next year. How long would it take for everything to return to normal?

Trump, surrounded by Republican lawmakers, blamed Democrats for the crisis, calling the shutdown “pointless”. Speaker Mike Johnson echoed that sentiment, though polling shows most Americans faulted Republicans. Progressive lawmakers like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez condemned the deal, calling it a “cruelty” enabled by compromise. The fight over ACA subsidies isn’t over: Democrats are planning a new push for an extension as both chambers prepare for another spending deadline in January. Wait, what about air travel?

After 230 Years, It’s A Bye-Bye To Penny

US Treasurer Brandon Beach struck the final penny at the Philadelphia Mint on Wednesday, closing a 232-year chapter in American currency. While collector editions will continue, regular penny production, once generating billions annually, is ending. Treasury says the move will save $56 million yearly, with each penny now costing 3.69 cents to make.

The decision follows President Donald Trump’s February pledge to “rip the waste out of our nation’s budget, even a penny at a time.” But the historic phaseout has caused chaos in commerce, as retailers and banks grapple with shortages and rounding challenges. The Federal Reserve has already halted penny orders at more than half its distribution sites, intensifying the transition’s impact.

Treasury officials argue that digital payments and rising production costs have made the coin obsolete. Still, an estimated 300 billion pennies remain in circulation, ensuring its slow fade from wallets and registers nationwide. With the penny’s official end, America bids farewell to a symbol of thrift and nostalgia—one that, for centuries, carried Lincoln’s face and a quiet promise of luck.
