King Charles III and Queen Camilla began a four-day US visit on Monday marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. They were greeted with a red-carpet ceremony, walked through a military honor cordon, and attended anthems at the White House. See pictures. Jury selection began on Monday in a federal court in Oakland, California, in Elon Musk’s civil case against Sam Altman and OpenAI. Musk sued in 2024, alleging OpenAI abandoned its nonprofit mission to benefit humanity. He seeks funds for OpenAI’s charitable arm and Altman’s removal. What’s at stake?

OpenAI called the lawsuit a “baseless and jealous bid to derail a competitor.” The company is valued at $852 billion. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers will decide the case, with a jury in an advisory role. Opening statements could begin Tuesday. Musk donated up to $44 million before withdrawing support. Witnesses may include Satya Nadella. The trial is expected to run four weeks, with nine advisory jurors.

It’s 1am, your inbox is buzzing, and you’re still scrolling job listings. That loop now has a name: “doomjobbing”. It describes endlessly searching and applying online, often leading to lower confidence and motivation. While the word was invented on Threads by a user, research links it to short bursts of optimism followed by disappointment and self-doubt. 

Psychotherapist Jo Ellen Grzyb says it mirrors dating apps, where people get a dopamine hit, then disappointment, and repeat the cycle. The longer someone goes without interviews, insecurities grow and focus shifts to negatives. Easy access to platforms like LinkedIn and a volatile job market amplify these feelings. Suggested fixes include avoiding the “perfect job” trap, working with recruiters, reaching out directly to companies, telling others you’re job hunting, and limiting scrolling time.
