Charlie Kirk’s Suspected Killer Detained After 33-Hour Manhunt

Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested on Thursday night after a 33-hour manhunt for the suspected sniper who killed conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Authorities said Robinson fired a single round from a rooftop about 200 yards away as Kirk spoke at the campus on Wednesday. How did they catch him? Robinson’s father is said to have recognized him from FBI photos and, with help from a family pastor, persuaded him to surrender peacefully. Investigators recovered a bolt-action rifle marked with political slogans and memes, and surveillance footage showed Robinson on campus hours before the attack. They also found casings with messages, what were they? Utah prosecutors said they plan to file aggravated murder charges on Tuesday. How did Robinson go from a promising student to a murder suspect?

President Donald Trump confirmed Robinson’s arrest and urged that the death penalty be sought if he is convicted. Erika Kirk, the activist’s widow, vowed to carry on her husband’s work. “His voice will remain and ring out louder than ever,” she said. Vance invokes Kirk’s death to drive GOP donations.

The FBI has faced sharp criticism after acknowledging that Robinson’s extremist postings were flagged months earlier but not acted upon. Lawmakers have demanded answers on why potential warning signs were missed despite his online activity.
