Anti-ICE Protests Take Place Across US

A nationwide strike protesting federal immigration enforcement shut down schools, businesses, and streets across multiple states Friday. Organizers urged “no work, no school, no shopping” as demonstrations spread from Minnesota to California, North Carolina, Maine, and beyond.

The protests followed the Justice Department’s announcement of a civil rights investigation into the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, the second Minnesotan killed by federal agents this year. Outrage also grew after the arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort over their protest coverage. Despite signals of a possible agent drawdown in Minneapolis, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said “meaningful change” has yet to appear.
