MAGA Or Not, Congress Members Are Facing Threats

Several Democratic lawmakers with military backgrounds are facing FBI inquiries after releasing a video urging troops to refuse unlawful orders. The message, which was rooted in constitutional law, was blasted by President Donald Trump as “seditious behavior”. He amplified posts calling them traitors, including one suggesting they should be hanged. The administration has also pushed the Pentagon to investigate Sen. Mark Kelly, which legal experts say is baseless and dangerously chilling for speech. Is it really “seditious” or “illegal”, what legal experts say.

These Democrats say Trump is weaponizing federal power to intimidate his critics. But the threats they’re describing aren’t limited to one party. Across Capitol Hill, members are weighing whether serving in Congress is still worth the escalating hostility, ideological loyalty tests, and volatile political climate. Growing numbers in both parties are retiring early, or considering it.

Most visibly, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, once one of Trump’s fiercest allies, has cited a surge in violent threats and Trump’s own attacks as factors in her resignation.

Could AI Really Become Your Personal Shopper

OpenAI is turning ChatGPT into a shopping destination, rolling out an instant checkout feature that lets people browse and buy products without leaving the chat. The tool launched with Etsy and is expanding to Shopify soon, meaning hundreds of thousands of merchants could soon be selling directly inside users’ conversations. Shoppers can pay using Apple Pay, Google Pay, Stripe or by entering card details. There’s no added fee for consumers — OpenAI earns a cut from each merchant sale.

The feature currently supports only single-item purchases but is expected to handle more complex transactions over time. Behind the rollout is an open-sourced Agentic Commerce Protocol, co-developed with Stripe, aimed at helping retailers across the industry plug into conversational shopping. However, consumer satisfaction continues to decline as Americans grow vary of high costs.

The push comes during a retail moment increasingly shaped by AI. Major brands including Target, Walmart and Ralph Lauren are deploying chatbots that serve as stylists, review summarizers and product finders, helping consumers cut through endless choice. Analysts say AI-driven shopping could ease decision fatigue and deliver more personalized recommendations, though many tools remain experimental and occasionally miss the mark. Still, tech companies see a future where shoppers don’t look for products, the products find them.

Mind

Your Body Is Talking To Your Brain. Are You Listening?

Scientists are discovering that our brains are constantly tracking signals from inside our bodies — a hidden flow of information known as interoception. This internal sense gives us awareness of a racing heartbeat, a churning stomach or nerves that feel like butterflies.

Beyond those everyday sensations, researchers now believe interoception shapes our emotions, decisions and even how we experience being sick. When that system misfires, the brain may misinterpret internal signals, contributing to conditions such as anxiety, depression and eating disorders. That emerging connection suggests that in the future, treatments could “retune” a person’s internal sense to support mental health.

To get there, scientists are working to fully map and understand this network. Much of the traffic travels along pathways like the vagus nerve, carrying data about heart rhythm, breathing, digestion and chemical changes throughout the body. Most of this activity happens outside conscious awareness, yet it influences how we behave and how the body automatically adjusts to stress or illness. Researchers say the growing field of interoception may fundamentally change the way we think about the mind-body relationship, revealing just how much of what we feel begins deep inside.
