After Kimmel, TV’s Struggle Intensifies
President Donald Trump on Thursday suggested television broadcasters could lose their licenses over negative coverage of him, escalating tensions between the administration and major networks. Speaking aboard Air Force One after a state visit to Britain, Trump accused the media of bias, claiming “97 percent negative” coverage, and said the Federal Communications Commission should consider revoking licenses. How do these licenses work? “I would think maybe their license should be taken away. It will be up to Brendan Carr,” Trump said, referring to the FCC chairman, whom he praised as “a patriot” and “a tough guy”.
The remarks followed ABC’s indefinite suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! after criticism from Carr and affiliates upset over Kimmel’s comments about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. How did Late-Night show hosts reacted to the news? While Trump congratulated ABC for “having the courage,” critics, including Democrats and former President Barack Obama, denounced the moves as censorship. Obama warned such threats amount to “government coercion” and violate First Amendment protections. How Jimmy Kimmel landed here.
FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez, the panel’s lone Democrat, also stressed the commission “does not have the authority” to punish broadcasters for content. Still, industry observers noted that regulatory pressure alone has already influenced corporate decisions, with affiliates and networks acting swiftly to avoid further confrontation. Novo Nordisk’s Daily Weight-Loss Pill Matches Wegovy Shot in Key Trial
Novo Nordisk said its experimental daily pill version of Wegovy helped patients lose nearly the same amount of weight as its widely used weekly injection. In a late-stage trial of 307 overweight or obese adults without diabetes, participants who adhered to treatment lost an average of 16.6% of their body weight over 64 weeks. By comparison, those on a placebo lost just 2.7%. Even patients who did not fully follow dosing instructions lost an average of 13.6%.
The company noted that more than one-third of participants achieved weight loss of 20% or greater, with additional improvements in cardiovascular risk factors and activity levels. Side effects were similar to the injectable version, with nausea and vomiting reported most commonly. About 7% of participants on the pill dropped out, compared with 6% on placebo.
Novo Nordisk has submitted the drug for U.S. regulatory approval, with a decision expected by year’s end. If approved, it would become the first GLP-1 pill authorized specifically for weight loss, positioning the Danish drugmaker ahead in its rivalry with Eli Lilly.

New Vaccine Committee Takes Another Shot
The U.S. vaccine advisory committee convened by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. voted on Thursday to restrict use of the combined measles, mumps, rubella, and chickenpox vaccine (MMRV) for young children. In an 8–3 vote, the panel recommended that children under 4 receive two separate shots — one for MMR and another for varicella — rather than the single-dose combination vaccine. The MMRV shot will remain an option for children receiving their second dose between ages 4 and 6.
Committee members cited concerns about rare febrile seizures linked to the first dose of the combined vaccine, though experts stressed these events are not associated with long-term harm. Critics warned the decision could cause confusion, lead to lower vaccination rates, and create new barriers to access. “Instead of emerging with clear guidance about vaccines that we know protect against serious illnesses, families are left with confusion, chaos and false information,” said Dr. Susan Kressly, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
The panel also delayed a separate vote on hepatitis B shots for newborns, with a decision expected Friday. The recommendations now await review by the CDC director.

Arguments with partners can leave emotional aftershocks — racing hearts, unresolved tension, and the awkward silence that follows. Experts say taking timeouts, apologizing, and having “closing conversations” can help couples reconnect. Others lean on gestures — a smile, a hug, or even cookies — to signal care. But when emotions run high, is it better to talk things through, or simply move on with small acts of love?
