Fewer Women At The Table In Trump’s Second Term
When President Trump met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing last month, one detail stole the spotlight: every single official at the table was a man. This all-male meeting highlights a massive shift in Washington. According to new data, Trump’s second administration has appointed the lowest percentage of women to Senate-confirmed roles since George W. Bush. Right now, women make up less than 15% of his nominees, compared to over 52% under Joe Biden.
Even wilder? Every single high-profile departure from Trump’s Cabinet this term has been a woman — including Tulsi Gabbard and Kristi Noem — and men were picked to replace all of them. While the White House insists they hire strictly on merit, critics argue the lack of diversity hurts government performance. Either way, the era of identity politics in the West Wing is officially over.

The Rich Are Getting Richer (Quicker)
The global billionaire club is officially breaking the economy. Over the last fifteen years, their combined wealth has skyrocketed from $4.5 trillion to a mind-boggling $20.1 trillion — nearly a fifth of the entire planet's annual economic output.
So, what’s driving this hyper-concentration of cash? Look no further than the massive AI boom. Trillions of dollars are flooding a tiny handful of tech titans, leaving workers with a shrinking slice of the pie. We are about to see this alchemy explode on Wall Street. With OpenAI and Anthropic recently filing for confidential IPOs, and SpaceX setting its historic $1.77 trillion IPO for Friday, Elon Musk is poised to become the world’s very first trillionaire. Why is Wall Street going gaga over it?
Thanks to a decade of favorable US tax laws, the top 1% now control half of all stocks, fueling an aristocracy that critics warn is distorting politics into a pay-to-play operation that could ultimately break society.

Drinking Cap You Didn’t Ask For
That nightly glass of wine might not be the health booster you think it is. A new study published in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs just shattered the myth that moderate drinking is good for you, recommending that Americans cap their alcohol intake at no more than one drink per day. The research team found that knocking back more than seven drinks a week drastically spikes your lifetime risk of dying from alcohol-related injuries, liver cirrhosis, or various cancers — including breast and colon cancer. While a daily drink can offer a slight protective effect for your heart, scientists warn that the risk of disease and injury completely cancels out any benefits.
The current federal guidelines vaguely advise Americans to just "consume less," but experts say we need hard numbers to make informed choices. Bottom line? When it comes to optimal health, less is always best and skipping the booze entirely is your safest bet.

WEIGH IN

Liminal spaces are having a moment. Think empty malls, eerie hotel hallways, abandoned food courts, and those weird photos that somehow feel nostalgic and unsettling at the same time. Fans say these images capture what modern life feels like: disconnected, online, and stuck somewhere between the past and the future. Critics argue we’re romanticizing loneliness and turning late-capitalism burnout into an aesthetic. Either way, “liminalism” has gone from niche internet rabbit hole to defining vibe, with communities built around photos that feel strangely familiar yet completely off.
