Over A 100 Days In

One hundred days into the US-Israeli war on Iran, President Donald Trump faces a complex Middle East military quagmire that challenges his trademark displays of political dominance. Despite Trump’s recent declaration to The Financial Times that he "calls all the shots" and that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has "no choice" but to accept a US-negotiated deal with Iran, regional realities tell a different story. The conflict has quickly exposed the limits of American firepower. Iran continues its de facto closure of the critical Strait of Hormuz, resisting US demands for major nuclear concessions while keeping global oil prices high. Meanwhile, a deep rift has emerged between US and Israel allies. While Trump pressured Netanyahu into pausing scheduled retaliatory strikes, Netanyahu later delivered a defiant televised address, vowing to strike Iran "whenever necessary".

This deadlock comes at a brutal political cost back home. Amid the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary celebrations, a new AP-NORC poll highlights widespread domestic exhaustion. Only a quarter of Americans now view the US as exceptional, and public disapproval of the war is mounting rapidly as the midterm elections approach. Trump insists a diplomatic breakthrough is days away, but for now, Washington remains firmly boxed in.

Women Live Longer But At What Cost

American women are facing a major trap because of a pretty unfair reality: they live longer than men, but they spend more of those extra years dealing with health issues. On average, women outlast men by five years, but they spend about nine of those years dealing with chronic disabilities. This creates a massive financial mess. Over half of Americans over 65 will eventually need long-term care, but women usually need it last. 

What typically happens is a couple’s savings get completely wiped out covering the husband’s medical bills first. That leaves surviving widows facing nursing home costs over $115,000 a year with empty pockets and no partner for support. Since Medicare doesn't cover long-term care and private insurance companies charge women way higher premiums, financial planners say it’s time to start having these awkward conversations and look into shared policies early.

We always talk about postpartum depression in new moms, but a growing wave of research shows that hands-on dads go through it, too. When a man steps up to be an equal caregiver, his brain actually undergoes massive neurological and hormonal shifts — like a drop in testosterone — similar to what mothers experience. 

Unfortunately, because society views postpartum struggles as a women-only space, these struggling fathers face intense skepticism and isolation. They are frequently left without support networks, parental groups, or specialized therapists. But ignoring paternal depression doesn't just hurt men; it strains marriages and damages child development.
