CBS ‘60 Minutes’ Firings Leading to Utter Chaos

CBS News plunged into chaos after new "60 Minutes" executive producer Nick Bilton fired veteran anchor Scott Pelley "for cause". The firing followed an explosive morning staff meeting in Manhattan where Pelley brutally ambushed his new boss. In a leaked recording released by The New York Times, an angry Pelley accused network editor-in-chief Bari Weiss of “murdering ‘60 Minutes’” following a wave of veteran ousters, dubbed "Black Thursday".

Pelley didn't hold back on Bilton either, calling his qualifications "slender". Bilton fired back, saying, "You are not going to intimidate me," before axing the anchor the next day for "remarkable incivility". How the firings at CBS have led to chaos. America's decades-long surge in LGBTQ+ acceptance is officially sliding backward. A new May 2026 Gallup poll reveals that US support for same-sex marriage has dropped to 65%, down from its 71% peak in 2022.

The primary driver? A massive political about-face. Republican support for gay marriage plummeted from a 55% majority in 2022 to just 37% today — dragging conservative views all the way back to 2005 levels. Public opinion on gender transition is also tanking, with overall moral acceptance dropping from around half of Americans in 2021 to a mere 38%. Experts point to a fierce wave of right-wing media targeting and restrictive state laws as the catalyst for this dramatic cultural shift.

America’s in a New Financial Middle With Trillions in Credit Card Debt

The American middle class is officially living in a financial gray area. A new Edward Jones and Gallup survey reveals a staggering 51% of US adults are financially “conflicted” — caught in a stressful limbo between stability and total uncertainty. Is that why White Collar workers can’t get ahead?

Even high earners are feeling the burn. Sky-rocketing food and gas costs have dropped America’s personal savings rate to 2.6%, driving total credit-card debt to a record $1.25 trillion. Delinquencies are at a 15-year high as folks lean into "survival debt". Whether making $90,000 or $194,000, Americans are cutting back on groceries and gym memberships. As hospital director Catherine Clarke puts it, "I'm one or two big emergencies away from being like, ‘Oh God, I’m going to go back into debt.’"
